Club Notes

Failte!

We had two busy registration nights in Roscommon Community Sports Park in recent weeks. Our player numbers are up on last year. This shows us the appetite for soccer in the town and surrounding areas. It was great to see our returning coaches, parents and players. Each night was a great opportunity to meet and map out the season ahead. We welcome our new members to the club, especially members of the Ukrainian community in the town and surrounds. We hope everyone has an educational, exciting and enjoyable season ahead with the Town.

Thank you. Mile Buiochas. Obrigado. Dziekuje. Hvala vam. Dakujem. Dyakuyu. Gracias. Merci. Dhanyavaad.

Happy St Patrick’s Day and enjoy the long weekend. ☘️

Communication ?

To keep things moving during the season, communicate with your coach regarding attendance or absence for training and matches so they can plan and prepare. The earlier you communicate the better. WhatsApp will be the main avenue for messaging.

Every Little Helps

Many hands make light work and we encourage you to assist your coaches during the season – supervising at training, helping out in the shop, washing jerseys, giving a player a lift to a match, etc. If each of us does a little, we will do a lot.

Shop ☕️?

In 2023, we will continue to operate a club shop for home matches. Spectators will be able to have a cuppa and some snacks as they support the players. Please lend a hand this season. Contact your coach.

Supportive Sidelines ?

Respect the referee. Trust your coach. Encourage the team.

Coaches, players and parents, all of us, subscribe to the clubs codes of conduct. These are available on our website and put into action on the pitch. Remember…Be sound or be silent!

Connacht Shield ⚽️

Our boys U14 team departed the Connacht Shield in the round of 16. Played on a fine astro surface in Maree last Saturday, the hosts – who are comfortably top in the Galway Premier Division – were the sharper side throughout and took the lead ten minutes before the break. Town came more into the game in the second half but were hit by a goal against the run of play which gave Maree Oranmore the cushion needed to see out the game, despite being down to ten players. Sincere thanks to our hosts for the welcome and hospitality extended to us. The experience of playing top teams in Mayo, Galway and Sligo will stand to the lads as we prepare now for the RDYSL season which commences on Monday March 27th.
