Club Notes – June

On the Pitch ⚽️

Our 7s and 9s are active in arranging blitzes at present. Last Sunday, our 11s players participated in a League blitz in Shiven. Well done to the players and their coaches. Our older teams will take a break from League and Cup action in July and switch to the Sevens series. RDYSL fixtures, scores and tables can be viewed on the RDYSL Facebook page.

RDYSL Academy ⚽️

This week, a number of Town players are representing club and county at the Tempo Youth World Cup in Limerick. We wish Greg, Shane, Jack, John, Tadhg and Shay the very best. Earlier in the month, Donnchadh and Senan represented the county at the Kennedy Cup. Well done lads. At the start of the month, Town coach Olimpia and her RDYSL girls squad won the Gaynor Shield Final. Congratulations Oli!

GK Session

Ronan McCarthy, a GK coach who has worked previously in the League of Ireland and with Burnley FC, visited the club this week and led a GK session for our U14 GKs. The session focused on positioning and technique for crosses and shots. Ronan was with us in the past and hopefully will be back again soon to run another session. GK tips can be viewed in our coach corner page. View here.

Skill Zone – Heading

Remember when heading – active stance, eyes open and mouth closed.

Pitches

Due to changes occurring in the Sports Park this summer, Town are also using the CBS Galway Road pitch for training and matches. We would like to thank the CBS management and would encourage our club members to support the proposed CBS astro pitch project, if you can.

Codes of Conduct

A gentle reminder to all club members regarding our codes of conduct, which we all subscribe to this season. Be sound or be silent.
