On the Pitch ⚽️🥅
Our three boys U14 teams played on Monday evening. Town 1 lost at home to Dunmore. Town 2 won in Ballaghaderreen through goals from Samuel Godfrey, Dominic Jacob and Jonathan Greene. A young and depleted Town 3 secured a draw away to St John’s. Matthew Towey netted for Town.
On Tuesday evening, Town 1 U12s hosted Dysart. A Daniel O’Connor hat trick and goals from Jack Kirwan and Darragh Feely saw Town win 5-4. Sean Carthy and Michael Walsh netted for Town 2 in Castlerea but the home side secured the three points.
On Wednesday evening, the girls 12s won in Moore. An Amelia Bury brace and a goal from Aimee Burke secured the points. The 16s girls scored four away to Castlerea but the home side prevailed. Vitória Duarte (2), Lucy Coyle and Giovanna Sousa Silva scored for Town.
Our Town 1 U16 boys had a comfortable win over St John’s on Thursday evening. Anchored by Sam Malec Hannon in midfield, the lads played some lovely football. A sublime goal from Sam in the first half and goals from Lewis Smyth and Ethan Turkington in the second half secured the points
Our 18s boys team were away to Skyvalley on Friday evening. Though somewhat depleted, the lads led on two occasions but lost out narrowly. Tommy Naughton (2) and Rory Dunne scored for Town.
Our six boys U11 teams are in Newbridge for the annual blitz on Sunday.
Good luck to the players and their coaches. ☘️👍
Condolences 🙏🏻
We extend our condolences to John Hannon and family on the death of his brother, Patrick (Junior). May he rest in Eternal peace.
Skill Zone – Defending ℹ️
Delay – Slow the attacker as much as possible
Deflect – Direct attacker away from your goal
Decide – Do I hold up attacker or engage? Their speed and touch determines your decision
Defend – Side on, stay on your feet, shield the ball and your goal. Put your body between the attacker and the ball.
